Day 13: 2012 Creativity Challenge - 365 Project

I started my 2012 Creativity Challenge as another New Years Resolution: to create something, in some way, every day. A sketch, or painting, a bit of sewing, music, gardening, anything to awaken my inner muse and remind myself that I can be creative... and dig myself out of a hole I'd fallen into in the last few years. This blog is part of that, a way to connect with others, learn, celebrate and and remember to gratefully cherish the minutae of each day.

I want to put up stuff I do with Miss Peanut, as well as pages from my visual diary that I've committed to use each day as well.. I keep thinking what it would be like for her children in 50 years time, looking back over my diaries and photos; I love looking at the little handwritten notes my grandma left in cookbooks, her art on the walls, and hearing my mum talk about the challenges Nana faced. My mum is also great at recording the interesting details the world around her, and her visual journals are brilliant. The problem with everything being digital is the speed at which it changes; will my grandkids be able to listen to my tapes, let alone read something as impermanent as a blog in 50 years? So the visual diary is a committment to keep sketching, doodling, designing, recording... allowing myself to make a mess and not focus on making art that has to 'sell'.

So here it is: my first entry to the the 365 Project on Friday the 13th LOL! I'll be backdating the last two weeks as well, with photos of pages from my sketchbook. I'd love to hear people's thoughts, suggestions, opinions, good or bad - to help me grow creatively. :)

Finally, a blog!

Wow, I've actually done it. After dreaming, thinking and facebooking in blogger style for 3 years now, I've finally launched a blog and hope to keep this one going. I've been reading blogs and collecting blogs and envying blogs for so long, and I've tried Livejournal and Wordpress in the past but needed a fresh start.

So my 2012 resolution is to create a place for me to celebrate all those random thoughts on motherhood, fun stuff with my toddler, and connect with others on all the things I love best. Attention seeker, moi? Must be :) Check back to see if I've succeeded :)
